    the Huntress and Fisher, and in excellent original condition. Noteworthy is the unusual (and original) Arabic numeral dial, which is rarely seen. We’ve had only 2 such dials in the last 25 years. No records survive to discuss this difference, but all clock companies had large dial departments and it would have been easy to fill such a special request at the time.     This base is the more rare and desirable deluxe base. Bronzed ornaments on the enameled iron base and on the swinging arm are bright, but the bronze finish on the statues is now a dark gray. You can have new gilt put on them if you like, but they look awfully nice like they are. Excellent can and movement, beveled glass, great dial, running. Ly-Seth Thomas, page 704.

    This clock was painted over with gold paint after it turned brown. We polished off a bit of paint to make sure it was brass and it is. Retains original gilt dial mask and dial in perfect condition. The pendulum is a typical Ansonia parlor pendulum, but not the cast bust as shown in Ly”s book. Runs but is dirty. The heavy ‘ bevel glass is all perfect. This clock is worth cleaning up. Height 20’

This is one of the most expensive shelf clocks in the old Ansonia catalogs. Reference: Ansonia Clocks by Tran Duy Ly Condition: Case: The case is great. Not over polished. Most of the original gold finish is still present with normal dark spots from cared for aging. Works: excellent, cleaned and lubricated. Pendulum.     The three piece set is in excellent condition with its original gilt finish showing minimal wear. The beveled glass in the back door has a chip in the lower right corner. The porcelain dial is in excellent condition with no hairline cracks or chips. The hands are original. The movement is signed. Overall, one of the best Ansonia three piece sets we have seen.

    One of Ansonia’s fancier crystal regulators, large at 20.5 inches high, complete with original finish. Old correct pendulum with lady’s head in center. All the heavy beveled glasses are old and in good condition, no chips. The two piece porcelain dial has small hairlines in the center dial. They would not bother most collectors but if you want perfection you can order a new center dial from Timesavers or Pro Clocks. 8 day movement, outside escapement, strikes the hours and half hours on a cathedral gong. Nice old original clock, running. Ly- Ansonia, page 117.

    This may not be the biggest and best crystal regulator Ansonia made, but it is my favorite. Over their lifetime the gold or brass finish wore off or tarnished badly. This one was redone by Bruce Baziluk. He first disassembles the case piece by piece and sends everything but the glasses and movement, to have all the pieces gold plated. Ansonia finished most of them in brass. I prefer the gold and have had all of mine refinished in gold. The metal underneaththe finish is real bronze. They all have 8 day movements, and strike halfhours on a standing cathedral gong. 2 piece porcelain dial is perfect, outsideescapement with jeweled pallets, and is running beautifully. Note the ornategold pendulum with embossed ladies bust. There is nothing plain about thisclock, if you like plain there are other things in this catalog. We try tohave something for everyone.     This model is a choice of most decorators because of its simplicity yet it has a regal expensive look. They will only use it if it has a bright new gold look. This real bronze case, like all I have seen, has had new gold professionally applied by one of the country’s best metal finishers. Some companies claim to do gold gilt but their work comes out looking like muddy pond water. To get a clock to look like it came from the Ansonia factory you must pay several hundred dollars. The 4 large, heavily beveled glasses are perfect, as is the original and rare pendulum bob, the hands, 2 piece dial with open escapement, gong, and 8 day movement. We have seen several different styles of dials on this model from porcelain, gold, round recessed numerals, and in this case a white metal dial with rich gold sash and dial surround. The large case is 20.5 inches high. Ly-Ansonia, page 117.

    the cast pendulum got lost at some point, and a workman has adapted a 2-vial compensating pendulum that keeps time and looks good, just not correct. Otherwise this is an exceptional clock with original movement, bright silvered dial, and open escapement. Someone has touched up the dial with some lt gray paint. Overall very good to excellent condition. For a foto of original pendulum, see Ly’s Ansonia book (1998), pg 117. Price guide for 2004 = $2650. Height 20.5 inches

    Note the base has been restored by Mr. Carrick with his trademark bronze finish, and the ribbon trim gold plated. The Cherubs retain their original finish with some wear, but basically excellent. The movement is complete and sound and with great porcelain dial and open escapement. This clock shows in Tran Duy Ly’s Ansonia book, figure 1474 on page 379, and sold new in 1904 for $100. For comparison a Hanging Antique was only $70 or you could have bought two Generals for $94 (47 each), or 5 weight driven Capitals for $20 each. I feel there is room for appreciation in these figure clocks. Height 30 inches

    Jan 2021 – 72 Antique American Clocks Ansonia “Jumper No. 2”, ca. 1891. The No. 2 Jumper is slightly smaller than the No. 1, at 14.5 inches tall. The nickel plating on this example is a bit dull and I cannot exclude the possibility that part or all of it has been repainted. Nonetheless, it looks good and the paper dial is clean; the hands are correct. doll matches the girl in the catalog illustration (Ly, Ansonia Clocks & Watches , page 66) and she is also bobbing happily. The one-day movement is signed. These two look good together! The No. 2 Jumper seems to be a bit more common than the No. 1, with two sales in 2018 for $600 and $700 at Wooten & Wooten and Fontaine’s, respectively.

    Thirty-hour time only movement with seconds dial. Silver plated canister (with relief flower decoration), spelter stand and top decoration are intact, but have some wear on original plating. There is an epoxy repair on cuff around spring exit at bottom of canister (not readily seen). Paper dial is a proper copy with Ansonia trademark and 1886 patent date, but the movement is a bit crooked in the case, and the spring wants to rub the cuff and stop the doll.     It is identical to the Ansonia “Jumper No. 2” pictured in LyAnsonia No. 111. The movement is not signed and it is not exactly like the movement pictured at No. 112. The dial is not signed, nor does it have a seconds dial. It could be German, French, or American, I am not sure. It is very old, not a reproduction. The movement is one day and in running condition. The tin can case body has etched designs all over it. Good hands, glass and dial.

    This is the same color scheme as the above lot, green, yellow, aqua, the flowers on this are dark pink roses (under the dial and on both sides of the case. The reliable Ansonia movement has a nice porcelain dial with Arabic numerals plus open escapement in the dial center. No chips nor cracks are evident; with good Bonn Trademark on the rear. Note the china is perforated above the dial, adding to the 3 dimensional affect and allowing light through, moreover, the flowers are molded into the case front and leaves on the sides. A great example of this model. Height 12″

    original condition. This clock has an old repair to the top left corner which got slightly chipped and someone sanded it off and applied a little gold paint to disguise the damage. Someone handy with porcelain repair could make this invisible. The hand painted scene shows two deer along side a brook in a field÷nice subject. Retains original paper dial in very good condition, and we have tried to keep our estimate in line with the overall condition. Height 11 inches

    This is a very colorful porcelain case beginning with the dark ruby shades on top, gradually changing to light greens as you near the base. The usual gold accents. Pretty pink, white, green, flowers, on front, sides, and top. American sash, porcelain dial, beveled glass, all perfect. This case is one with a cut out on top. A very delicate piece of porcelain suspended between the sides, and very easily broken, I would think. 8 day, half hour gong strike. 11-1/2 inches high, 9-1/2 inches wide. Properly signed front and back. Ly-Ansonia No. 2595.

    This is another outstanding Royal Bonn case clock from the Miller collection. The New Art Tint colors are primarily pink shades that you just never see in the porcelain clocks, and the designs of snowflakes and flowers painted in gold on the casetop. There are pink flowers on the front and sides and just the right amountof gold accents. It is not one of the larger Royal BonnÕs at 11-1/2 incheshigh, and 9 inches wide, but the style says, donÕt sell me. There is an opening, or handle, above the dial, shell like designs on the 4 corners, and 4 sidescurling down to the feet. American sash, beveled glass, one piece porcelaindial, all near perfect. 8 day, gong strike, running. Case and dial properlysigned by Ansonia, and the German case makers that fired the porcelain case.Ly-Ansonia No. 2595.
