Case is tarnished and has never been cleaned. 8-day movement, hour and half hour gong strike, serviced and running strong. There is a 2-piece porcelain dial and visible escapement, basically very nice, just one tiny spider web. Beveled glasses all around, the usual tiny corner chips, 2 places. Ly-Ansonia No.357.

Ansonia Clock Co. crystal regulator, "Crown", ca 1914.

Ansonia Clock Co. crystal regulator, “Crown”, ca 1914.

15-1/2 inch gilded brass case and attached, rich gold ornaments, on the top and base. Gilt has been polished too much on the high spots of the ornaments around the top and base. There is green tarnish showing thru, and thankfully their brush or cloth didnÕt get into the grooves where a great deal of the gilt and some green tarnish remains, which I much prefer over the copper showing.4 perfect beveled glasses, 2 piece porcelain dial with open escapement, allnear perfect. 8 day movement with rack and snail count, striking on a standinggong half hours and hours, runs nice and strong. Everything signed properlyby Ansonia. Would make a beautiful clock with a little judicious cleaning.Ly-Ansonia No. 357.

Ansonia Clock Company, crystal regulator, "Crown", C. 1914.

Ansonia Clock Company, crystal regulator, “Crown”, C. 1914.

The 15.5″ high case came from the factory with a polished brass body and gold gilt ornaments, which included the urn top, the base including feet, and the wrap around ornament just above the dial. The brass body has never been polished. It would certainly improve the looks of the case to polish lightly. The ornaments were restored in a Syrian Bronze shade which looks very nice in place of the bright gold. One of the 4 glasses has a corner crack; imitation mercury 2 jar pendulum has one chipped vial; 2 small corner attachments in the back are missing; the 2 piece porcelain dial has 2 repaired chips and some small hairlines. The urn and urn base is the style normally seen on the Crown model. The urn base was broken and repaired. 8 day, half hour cathedral gong strike, running just fine. This clock is not nearly as bad as I have made it sound. It looks very good and runs great, it is when you take your eye glass and inspect closely that you see the faults. Ly-Ansonia #357.
