Ansonia Clock Co. crystal regulator, "Elysian", ca 1914.

Ansonia Clock Co. crystal regulator, “Elysian”, ca 1914.

The original finish was a rich gold, now hardly any gold left, worn down to the copper base except the four glass and door frames are polished brass. This is a nice crystal regulator when in good condition. Some people like the simple case style. All four beveled glasses are free of chips. Good imitation mercury pendulum. Two piece porcelain dial has acquired several hairlines, open escapement, correct hands. 8 day movement, half hour gong strike, running very strong. The clock stands 16.5 inches high and is 8.75 inches wide. The urn base is a replacement. You can get the urn bases for $5 and new porcelain dials for $33, from Timesavers. Give it a new finish and you have an $800 clock. Ly-Ansonia No. 360.

Ansonia Clock Company, crystal regulator, "Elysian", C. 1914.

Ansonia Clock Company, crystal regulator, “Elysian”, C. 1914.

A nice size clock standing 16.5″ high, 4 large beveled glasses decorated on all sides with the cast ornaments on the edges, top, and base. The clock has the million dollar look with the jeweled sash and pendulum and all jewels present and accounted for. The case was devalued considerably when someone had nothing better to do than polish 75% of the rich gold finish down to the copper undercoat. It would be fine for most people but the perfectionist collector would have to have it regilded. 8 day movement is running, strikes the half hours and hours on a hanging gong. 2 piece porcelain dial with open escape is very good. There may be a faint hairline somewhere, there usually is. A good clean decorator clock. Ly-Ansonia #360.

Ansonia Clock Company crystal regulator, "Elysian", C. 1914.

Ansonia Clock Company crystal regulator, “Elysian”, C. 1914.

Case was made with a rich gold finish of which 90% of it has disappeared. It stands 16.5″ high, complete and original with a nice 2 tube imitation mercury pendulum, 2 piece porcelain dial, open escapement, 4 great beveled glasses. The 8 day movement has been cleaned, serviced, and it just keeps on running. This would be an awfully nice clock is you will regilt, or put some kind of finish on the metal. Our minimum reflects that you will have to spend a little to put it back in good condition. Would be $650-$750 if finish was better. Ly-Ansonia #360.

Ansonia Clock Co. crystal regulator, "Elysian", ca 1914.

Ansonia Clock Co. crystal regulator, “Elysian”, ca 1914.

Just as the collector of these Ansonia clocks had the wood clocks refinished, he had this one gold plated. Four beveled plate glasses, one teeny tiny corner chip out of 16 corners, not bad. In fact this clock is awfully nice and it is running. There are some spider webs on the porcelain dial, and a small chip around one arbor. Collectors have a difference of opinion here. I would buy a new 2 piece dial from Timesavers for 33 dollars, others would clean the spider-webs in the ultrasonic, and still others would leave it as is. Your call. All the crystal regulators are 8 day, hour and half hour gong strike. This clock could be a keeper. Ly-Ansonia #360..
