C.1887, Ansonia Clock Co., Diana Swing, clock in good original condition. The bronze finish is mostly worn from the spelter statue, which it otherwise intact and with fine detail. The arm itself is a canister style; as with many earlier swing clocks, the movement is not signed (but is proper), and is running OK. Paper dial is good with no major stains. This clocks sold for 30.80 dollars in 1900, a bit expensive when you figure an Ansonia walnut shelf clock was only 4.75 dollars. Height 30 inches

Ansonia Clock Co., “Double Figure Swing”, or “Fisher and Huntress Double Swing”, ca 1883. This base is the more rare and desirable deluxe base. Bronzed ornaments on the enameled iron base and on the swinging arm are bright, but the bronze finish on the statues is now a dark gray. You can have new gilt put on them if you like, but they look awfully nice like they are. Excellent can and movement, beveled glass, great dial, running. Ly-Seth Thomas, page 704.
Ansonia Clock Co. crystal regulator, “Dutchess”, ca 1914, with a mottled green onyx top and base. The onyx, being veined as it is, always has hairlines. That is the nature of onyx, but it is all there, and tight. The brass case, with 4 perfect beveled glasses, is in between the onyx top and base. When new, the book would have called the brass case, “polished brass”. It is now dull and needs to be cleaned and polished. Case stands 11 inches high. The 8 day movement, with rack and snail count, strikes a standing gong, on the half hours; it is running and striking very well. The 2 piece porcelain dial has one small hairline, almost too insignificant to mention. Open escapement, correct hands, a more elaborate pendulum than you usually find with this modelclock. The gold finish is worn through to copper from polishing and the exposed copper has turned brown. The beveled glass is perfect, along with the dial and original hands. Original “RICH GOLD” finish and bevelled “Plate Glass”. – 20.5″ high Works: Ansonia 8 day brass with hour count and half hour striking on gong. “Best quality 20th century Ansonia shelf clock works I have ever seen” (comment from dealer) Visable escapement with jeweled pallets. 100 percent original. Most of the original gold finish is still present with normal dark spots from cared for aging. Works: excellent, cleaned and lubricated. Pendulum. C.1894, Ansonia Clock Co., Florist, 30-hour novelty timepiece, now with later movement. This timepiece was offered in a Japanese bronze or silver finish. This appears to be the silver finish that has tarnished. The beveled glass covering the dial is perfect. This company also offered a plain or fancy dial. This is the fancy dial. The movement is not original, now marked “Germany”, causing the dial to stand back from the reflector about an eighth of an inch. Still an uncommon model that someone has preserved at their local clock repair establishment. Height 8.50” $100-$150

C.1914, Ansonia Clock Co., “GENERAL” wall regulator in oak and in very good original condition. The only minor replacement is the front door glass which is new and the Regulator decal is not appropriate (note they did stencil on the word regulator in all block caps in the years 1886 to around 1904, but these clocks were offered only in ash or black walnut). This oak model would have been made later and would have had a clear glass. This clock uses Ansonia\’s 8-day, double weight, time only movement with seconds hand. The pendulum bob has 4 or 5 dents, weights, hands, beat scale and case hardware all proper, and the original dial is quite good with only minor losses. Original finish was over-coated with a light coat of shellac; looks fine. For details on this model, see Tran Duy Ly\’s book titled Ansonia Clocks and Watches, (1998) pages 180-81. Height 68 inches

Ansonia Clock Co., crystal regulator with white onyx top, base, and columns, called the “Gonfalon”, ca 1906. An 8 day clock, striking half hours on a cathedral gong, and is running and running. Porcelain dial is 2 piece with open escapement. 1 little flea bite at 1 o\’clock. Round movement, signed, rack and snail count. Imitation 2 jar mercury pendulum. 4 beveled glasses, all good. Brass frieze above the dial, 2 columns with brass capitals and bases, finials on top, ornaments top and base. 1 piece of onyx on top, behind the ornament, cracked in 2 places, and another on the right side of the base, above the metal post. Both can be repaired. Case is not real clean, doubt if it has ever been cleaned. Someone has added red felt cloth on the base. Ly-Ansonia No.409.
