    Condition: case is in as found condition with the bronze finish having oxidized to a dark color. There are some chipped areas on the black enamel base. The figure’s spear is missing (a simple piece of rod will work fine). Original porcelain dial is perfect and hands are original. The pin pallets on the verge that mesh with the escape wheel are missing, but can be obtained from Timesavers. The rear access door to the movement has separated from the case and will need attention. The movement is signed. A hard to find model, from a home in Swanzey. Height 15.75 inches [40 cm]

    Retains good porcelain dial with original fancy hands. This clock had been disassembled and the screws to hold the clock tower and the statue were lost, so they are simply setting on the base as shown. This is a hard to find model, even though we have other Boar Hunter examples in the sale. See LY No. 474 for additional details (catalog cut shows clock on different base, but this one lines up with holes and appears correct). Height 15.75 inches

    the large, heavy, ornate case has been skillfully restored, with a soft patina on the castings and glossy black on the broad footed base. The enamel dial, and the beveled glass in its cast bezel, are fine. The visible pallets are steel. We note that the Ly illustration shows the clock and figure reversed on the base. The signed movement escapes and strikes but was not tested long term. Ht 15 3/4″

    Spelter figure on iron base in very nice condition with the figures and clock case having been nicely cleaned. The feet have a slight amount of loss to the finish. The enameled base has a couple of chips and some loss to the gold in the incised decoration. Original porcelain dial is perfect and the hands are original. Movement is signed.     Jan 2022 – #142 Antique American Clocks Ansonia Clock Co. “Capitol”, A 54-inch black walnut or mahogany case with an old finish and plenty of patina. The door glass is modern, the finials are incorrect replacements. The dial is paper, the hands likely replacements. The 8-day, time-and-strike, spring-driven movement has nickel plates, is signed and is running and striking on the half-hours and hours on a cathedral gong. The pendulum bob is a replacement; the original Ansonia beat scale is at the bottom, and there is a good label on back. This clock also came in a weight-driven version.

    Condition: the case was refinished long ago and with a mellow golden appearance. The top right and left finials were newly turned [expert job]. There is a small chip on the top right molding, and the bottom rt finial has a chip in the sharp part that does not show if you put it to the rear. The outer paper chapter has been replaced and stained to match the center. The pendulum, hands, top and signed beat scale are all original.     This clock has an 8 day double spring, time and strike movement. It has an older replaced dial paper, porcelain beat scale, polished brass bob, wood stick, bell for the strike, brass dial rings, and correct hands. The 54″ high case is black walnut, very clean and polished, has three good glasses, a side door latch, and a Lady Minerva head at the top. The finials are an enigma. They are all alike but there should be four different sizes of finials on the case. The cabinet man did a good job making them, and they look fine, just not correct. The movement is original to the case but the feet were moved to get a better hold to the backboard. Ly-Ansonia No. 597.

    This one is a double wind, spring movement, time only. The movement is nickel plated and signed. The old dial is original and shows some age. Restoration to the top no doubt includes one or more finials. The three hands are good, it has brass dial rings, brass bob and wood stick, beat scale, and a Lady Minerva head at the top, all look to be original. The 54″ oak case has been cleaned and polished, it has three good glasses, and the correct door latch. We have seen nice examples of the Capitol sell from $1500- to $2000. This one does not meet those standards but is certainly cheap at our minimum. LyAnsonia, page 184.

    This nice case has its original finish, nicely cleaned and waxed. The chapter portion of the dial has been professionally re-papered, including the proper Ansonia information at the bottom edge (a very nice job); the inner part is original. The brass hardware and movement have been cleaned and polished. Note the Capital enjoyed a long model run and a couple of styles exist; the half finial trim on the door have been seen before, but do not appear in the Ansonia catalogs we have. Bottom finial is loose and may need new dowel. This clock is running and ready to hang on your wall. Height 54″

    Refinished 54 inches tall oak case in good condition; finials copied from originals and turned in oak by a professional wood worker. Glasses old and in excellent condition. Pendulum, hands, 7 inches dial, all original. The aged two piece dial is signed “Ansonia”, with logo. The 8-day movement strikes the hours and half hour on a brass mounted cathedral gong.     Oak case is 54 inches high, all finials look to be matching, brass pendulum, weights, dial ring, and beat scale are all polished. Two piece porcelain dial with seconds dial, signed and clean. One small repair by the left wind arbor. The movement is 8 day, 2 weight, time only, runs real well. In fact all of this collection is running properly. Case has been professionally cleaned. This model has 3 glasses and lots of finials, perhaps copying the Vienna regulator clocks. All of the clocks in this collection are clean and would please most collections, however, if you are a purist and demand an original finish, none of the clocks in this collection are for you. The metalwork has been professionally refinished in an antique gold with a lacquer-like finish. The black lacquer metal base is without blemishes and the gilt incising is still evident. The porcelain dial is perfect; the open escapement has steel pallets. The 8-day time-and-strike movement is signed and running and striking on the hours and half-hours. You can find this clock listed on page 149 of Ly’s book Ansonia Clocks & Watches This model typically sells for $300-$600 in good, refinished condition.

The front is iron, a wood box in back to hold the movement. Pendulum is attached from the bottom. Repainted dial on the old zinc pan. Case is very clean and will run if you put it in beat.     This is one of a series of 6 plush clocks made by Ansonia. This one came with or without a figure on top, and in different colors of plush cloth. It is evident this case never had a figure on top. The gray clock with gray metal trim is excellent. It is 13.5″ high, lions heads on the sides (no rings), and 4 winged dragons for the feet. The company didn’t cut corners on the dial or movement. The movement is 8 day with patterned brass plates, strikes hour and half hour on a cathedral gong. It has enclosed spring barrels, and a correct pendulum. The dial is 2 piece, faint hairlines around the 9, correct hands, open escape mechanism, brass sash, beveled glass, all very nice and is running well. Ly-Ansonia #2414.
