Ansonia Clock Company, figure clock, “Girl and Swan”, C. 1894. Typical Ansonia design. Metal case is 13″ high, completely refinished in gold, a little bright, but easier to tone down a little than to brighten up. 8 day movement, half hour strike on a standing gong. The round movement is signed and it is running. Good one piece porcelain dial, French sash, beveled glass, correct back door, pendulum, and hands. A little different clock, and very nice.

C.1895, Ansonia GEORGIA enameled iron and spelter mantle clock in very good “as-found: condition. There is some wear to the finish on the cast figures and there is a minor bow to the right side of the iron base and the rear dust cover to the case is missing. Otherwise complete and sound. Height 13.5 inches

Ansonia Clock Co., large wall regulator, “General”, C. 1905. Mahogany case in very good original condition, except for polishing to keep moisture in the wood. This large, heavy clock is 68″ high, and more than a handful for one person to carry. The only exception to being all original is a new painted dial by the Dial House, very expertly done. The movement is Ansonia\’s 8 day, double weight, and time only, with second\’s hand. Nice brass pendulum bob, wood stick painted black, the beat scale, hands, weights, and all the case hardware are quite good and proper for this model. These rare old clocks are selling for $5000 and up in good condition. Ly-Ansonia, page 180.

Ansonia Clock Co., very large wall clock, the “General”, ca 1914. Not as nice as the General’s we had in past years, because it needs a little work. The case should be 68 inches high; of course with the top ornament missingit is a little shorter now. There are any numbers of people who can makethe top ornament, but it would help if you could borrow an original ornamentfrom someone. All the other pieces are intact. The 8 day, 2 weight movement, is signed and generally in good condition. The hands and weights are replacements, but are good replacements. Brass pendulum is not as smooth as we would likebut the dents can be smoothed. The big old case is hard to move or hang, and you will no doubt find a bruise or two caused by someone like me tryingto carry it thru a doorway. If you have followed our auctions you knowthis model brings some high figures, an oak one last year brought $4635.Ly-Ansonia pages 180-181.

C.1914, Ansonia Clock Co., “GENERAL” wall regulator in oak and in very good original condition. The only minor replacement is the front door glass which is new and the Regulator decal is not appropriate (note they did stencil on the word regulator in all block caps in the years 1886 to around 1904, but these clocks were offered only in ash or black walnut). This oak model would have been made later and would have had a clear glass. This clock uses Ansonia\’s 8-day, double weight, time only movement with seconds hand. The pendulum bob has 4 or 5 dents, weights, hands, beat scale and case hardware all proper, and the original dial is quite good with only minor losses. Original finish was over-coated with a light coat of shellac; looks fine. For details on this model, see Tran Duy Ly\’s book titled Ansonia Clocks and Watches, (1998) pages 180-81. Height 68 inches

Ansonia Clock Co. “General”, ca 1914. Oak case at 68 inches is a mighty big clock, with carved trim on the top and sides. A close up of the carvings is pictured in Ly-Ansonia page 180-181. 8 day time only, runs good, 2 brass weights, brass pendulum, all polished. 18 inch painted metal dial, subsidiary seconds dial. Signed beat scale and dial. Case is clean and polished. The case is all original including the tail, but someone had the bright idea to add an extra little doodad trim, about 2 inches worth. It will remove easily if you choose.
