Note this exact configuration is not pictured in the 1883 catalog, and this version has a less complicated lower skirt, a simpler top and round turned columns, obvious cost control changes. Label on the back states, “Davies Sole ManÕfÕ The Crystal Palace Clocks Patented Jan y 26. 1875”. H. J. DaviessÕ sold his clocks thru the Ansonia trade catalogs and the American Clock Co. catalog. This model was called the “Extra” because of the cupid behind the pendulum. 8 day, bell strike. This is another fine, almost perfect clock from the Miller Collection. It stands 17 inches with the dome. You collectors that like the Crystal PalaceÕs I will say that I have had many of them, none better than this one. I challenge you to find one better. This has to be one of the fanciest alarm clocks we’ve seen in a long while, with an Empire/French style case of cat metal with a bronze finish, and with the normal alarm movement mounted from the roof and pillars, and with the added novelty of striking on the bell below, mounted to a finial. One minor defect is the tail to cupids arrow is absent; has been gone a long time. Height 16 inches

Note the Fisher has her right arm up to support the ball, while the Huntress has her left arm raised. This is correct.

The ball appears to have had a polished nickel finish, now oxidized and with mild pitting. An old overcoating has turned a pale blue. Some oxidation on rods. The statue was repainted maybe 25 years ago, a brown color, and gold Rub’n’buff applied to edges and raised areas. Ht 25″

Total height as pictured is 25 inches, arm alone is 23 inches. Minor wear on the rods, balls restored several years ago, good patina on the statue, repaired where the bracket fits into her hand, you most always see repairs there. The 8- day time only movement is a reproduction of the original. These movements can be bought from Timesavers. If all original, this clock would be worth $2500 to $3000. You can get this swinger a whole lot cheaper, and enjoy it while you look for an original movement. I have seen them sell on EBay. Ly-Ansonia, swing clock section.

Good original clock with nice patina on the statue. There is no fish “stringer” in her left hand going down to the fish, as shown in catalog pictures. I don’t know if I have ever seen a stringer. Swing arm is 23″, very good overall, some wear on rods, balls restored years ago. 8 day movement is in good running condition. Total height 25″. The signed movement ticks but was not tested long term. Overall Ht 20 1/2″
