  • Antique Ansonia “Lydia” Model Clock

    Antique Ansonia

Ansonia Clock Co. “Lydia”, ca 1894. One of the figural clocks most collectors are trying to find for their collections. It is a much larger clock than the pictures in the catalogs depict. It stands 19 1/2 inches high, and is very heavy. The metal is finished in Barbedienne, a member of the gold family. To point out just a few of the figures on the clock, starting at the base; sea serpents make up each of the 4 corners extending down to the feet. There is an eagle on the base with banners in his mouth that reach up each side to the head of a goddess. There are cherubs standing on each side of the urn. The urn top appears to have some fresh finish. There is a rams head in the center above the dial, same on the back. The cherubs have a bow over their shoulder. The later Lydia\’s did not have that feature. Gilt 2 piece porcelain dial with open escapement, silver dial ring, beveled glass. Movement is 8 day, striking on a gong. This is a very ornately decorated clock, complete with a back door, correct pendulum, and hands. Ly-Ansonia No.1585.

  • Antique Ansonia “Model No. 502” Model Clock

    Antique Ansonia

C.1900, Ansonia, Model 502, Royal Bonn porcelain china clock in very good original condition. This would rate outstanding if not for a little discoloration to the case under the dial, probably from over-oiling the movement at an earlier time. The colors on the case are elegantly sublime, a soft green with darker green shadows and gold highlights, and the case has no chips nor cracks. Open escape dial is perfect and with good Bonn trademark on the rear. This clock was cleaned recently (repair sticker) and is in good running order. For details on this hard-to-find model, see Ly\’s Ansonia book (1998), page 628. It is not apparent in the photo, but this case is “pierced” above the dial under the arch. Height 10 1/2″

  • Antique Ansonia “Music” Model Clock

    Antique Ansonia

Ansonia Clock Co. statue clock, “Music”, C. 1894. This statue is seen quite frequently with the statue, “Poetry”, on the double statue clocks. These large statue clocks are very imposing, very heavy, and very beautiful when finished properly. This black enameled iron case, the statue, clock tower, and feet, were all refinished in gold. We have had them refinished ever which way and most folks seem to prefer the gold to the original Japanese Bronze. This finish is bright, shining gold, and can be toned down easily if you prefer a more dull gold. The case stands 21.75″ high, and is 19.5″ wide. The two piece porcelain dial with the numerals in circles, rarely found on the statue clocks, is in excellent condition, has the outside escape mechanism, and original hands. Movement is 8 day, strikes a standing gong on the half hours, and in running order. Ly-Ansonia #502.
