C.1910, Ansonia “No. 411″ porcelain china clock in good original condition. This is a forest green clock with floral decorations of large white and pink hibiscus-like blossoms. The only fault we see on this clock is a set of changed hands (proper replacements are available from Timesavers for a couple of dollars). The gold highlights on this clock are still intact and very bright. Original paper dial is dark from age. Height 11”

Ansonia Clock Co. hanging weight clock, “Prompt”, C. 1901. Large 50″ oak case has been refinished and restored. I ascertained the wood is original except for some molding at the bottom. If you will compare a catalog picture to this clock you will notice 2 round balls attached to a piece of wood that goes across the base to the other side, with a carved tail piece in the middle. What I have described is in front of the larger tail or base, which is original on our clock. The restorer didn\’t attempt to make the pieces but instead put 3 pieces of base molding around the base, I suppose to disguise the fact there used to be something else there. The clock looks good, just isn\’t right. This is a nice and fairly rare model in that it is 2 weights, 8-day time only. The movement, mounted to an iron back plate, is in nice condition and running. Old dial was expertly repainted, bob, stick, beat scale, all good. A good woodman could restore this case to near original. Ly-Ansonia #599.

Ansonia Clock Co., crystal regulator, “Rampant”, ca 1914. This is one of their models with onyx top and base, and uses some metal decorations on the top and base of the four corners, and a small ornament under the roof line. This 14 inch case is generally good to excellent. I can only find one small chip in the green onyx, it being on the corner just below the left frontdoor post. Feet are different than those shown in the catalogs for this model, but they are correct Ansonia feet and I am sure were interchanged all thetime between the crystal regulators. 2 piece porcelain dial, hands, and open escapement, are near perfect, only one hairline near 10 o’clock. 8 day movement, gong strike on half hours, everything signed by the maker, just an awfully nice example of the onyx crystal regulators. C.1906, Ansonia Clock Co., “Regulator A” 8-day time/strike school clock, in good condition, with restoration. The walnut veneer is in excellent condition with only a small chip on one corner. The door glass is original and probably had the word “Regulator” which is now washed away. The dial has been repapered, and the hands are proper replacements. The inside label is loose and flaking, but quite legible. Height 32″

C.1885, Ansonia Clock Co., “Regulator No. 17”, with restorations. This is a solid oak case and is VERY heavy. It was in a barber shop in Michigan for some time, with limited space, and the Victorian bottom and a portion of the top were removed. Later, a cabinet maker created a lovely bottom and top which look OK, but are very different from those shown in the 1894 Ansonia catalog (see Ly, No. 571, page 176). He managed to stain them a caramel color, leaving the old finish on the main case intact. The 2-jar Mercury pendulum is antique, but may have come from another clock (it is a Waterbury pendulum). The mercury is clean, but can not be taken to the hotel and must be picked up in Salem, NH. The movement is a typical pinwheel with center seconds hand and porcelain dial in xlnt condition. It is running robustly. Impressive despite the case modifications. Height 86 inches

Ansonia Clock Co. “Round Plush Plaque”, C. 1886. Excuse the late in the day photography. I forgot to turn the cartouche numerals to their right direction. I didn\’t know it was an Ansonia until I looked at the movement. All the brass decorations are in place, chain is good, excellent pie pan center, stamped brass, red velvet plush is only slightly faded and worn. 8 day, time only, double wind, signed movement, is running. Balance wheel movement took off after I wound both springs. Ly-Ansonia #2406.

Ansonia Clock Co. cabinet clock, “Sharon”, ca 1894. 8 day, strikes half hours on cathedral gong. Gilt dial with American sash, correct bob, original key. Great walnut case is 15 1/2 inches, lots of scroll work, tiered and molded pieces with etchings. Like so many shelf clocks made in successive years the design may vary year to year. The catalogs show different ornaments and trim. Columns on side are missing or top ornaments are different. Back door has a glass insert. Ly-Ansonia No.856.

Ansonia Clock Co. carriage clock, “Star”, ca 1904. One day time and alarm. The balance spring movement will run if coaxed, but not for long. Cleaning and oil is needed. The bell for the alarm is on the base. Nice porcelain dial has the time dial on top and alarm dial below, signed by Ansonia. Hands original, good beveled glass in front. Back door has had some repairs to the hinge and latch. With the handle up, the clock is 5.75″ high, heavily etched and with molded designs all over. Originally the case was finished in rich gold, now dirty, worn in places, some gold still intact. Ly-Ansonia No. 197.

C.1904, Ansonia “Sybil and Winter”, with restorations. This clock and statue have been stripped and colored with rub and buff, then sprayed over with sealer (looks amazingly good for the low cost materials used). The new hands are improper, but look OK. There is no pendulum to this clock, but replacements are available from Timesavers in Scottsdale, AZ. Height 24 inches

C.1904, Ansonia Clock Co., “Toulon”, 8-day time/strike enameled iron case mantel clock in beautifully restored condition. The case and all its cast mountings have been cleaned and polished. The porcelain dial has hairline cracks and the 4 and 8 o\’clock positions. The hands are original. The movement is signed. The movement appears to have been recently serviced, and is in running order. This clocks was purchased in a retail shop in 1977 for $110, and has attest taped on to bottom. Height 10.75 inches
