C.1894, Ansonia “MECHANICAL CLOCK”, in generally good restored condition. Mike had a new ships wheel cast, as the original sheet brass one had deteriorated. The new one is cast from tinned lead and is a bit too heavy to perform properly. The clock is otherwise complete and sound. For details, see Ly Ansonia book (1998), page 363, figure 1380. Ansonia Clock Co. crystal regulator, “Marquis”, C. 1904. The case body which is polished brass, and the case ornaments, has been refinished in a gold that closely resembles the polished brass. The clock was completely redone by Bruce Baziluk. It is clean and polished inside and out including the imitation mercury pendulum, 2 piece porcelain dial, the rings, the open escapement mechanism, and even the original hands. The clock stands 15.5″ high, has 4 beveled glasses, all but one with teeny tiny corner nicks. I sure wouldn\’t spend $100 to replace them. 8 day round movement is signed, has a rack and snail strike count, and strikes half hours and hours on the ornate standing gong. Ly-Ansonia #334.

Almost a perfect crystal regulator, rich gold ornaments still has most of the original gilt; brass case body is sound, not polished in a long time but still satisfactory. The case is 15.5″ high, all original including the 2 piece porcelain dial with only an inkling of a hairline around one arbor, good open escapement, original hands and imitation 2 jar mercury pendulum. 4 beveled glasses, all perfect. 8 day movement was just serviced, is running very good, and strikes half hours on a standing cathedral gong. Ansonia Clock C., crystal regulator, “Marquis”, C. 1904. Nice original case of polished brass and rich gold ornaments attached top and base. It has lost only a small amount of the original shine. 8 day movement is running strong, strikes the half hours on a standing gong, with an imitation mercury pendulum. Dial is a little different than we normally see on the crystal regulators. It is brass with recessed numerals painted black, open escapement, original hands, and all good. Ansonia Clock Co. crystal regulator, “Marquis”, ca 1904. This oneis a notch above the average crystal regulator because of the Jeweled Sashand Jeweled Pendulum. Believe me the jewels make a difference. They are like diamonds in that they pick up and reflect light which draws your attention to them and away from the dirty brass case and the used to be “Rich Gold Ornaments”.Over half of the rich gold has disappeared and the brass needs to be polishedagain. The 8 day movement is ticking away as I type, strikes half hours andhours on the standing gong. The case is 15.5″ high, with 4 beveled glasses.Front glass and one side glass has corner chips. 2 piece porcelain dial hasa hairline on the inner dial, east to west, dirt is what makes you noticeit. As I say repeatedly, would disappear with a cleaning. All jewels intactand retain their bright color. Ly-Ansonia No. 334.

Ansonia Clock Co. crystal regulator, “Marquis”, ca 1904. One of the best crystal regulators I have ever had. It is not perfect, but the rich gold ornaments still have most of the gold intact. The brass box is also good but a light polishing would help. It stands 15 1/2 inches high and is all original. The movement is 8 day, half hour gong strike, 2 piece porcelain dial with open escapement, 4 beveled plate glasses with nary a corner chip. Most unusual. This is a keeper. Ly-Ansonia No.334.
