Typical case materials for the Ansonia Large Gothic Gem include cast iron, bronze, and brass, showcasing the intricate details of the Gothic Revival style. The design is characterized by its tall, slender form with a pointed arch top and decorative floral ornamentation on the sides and base.
Produced between 1876 and 1900, this clock model marks an era where industrial manufacturing techniques allowed for mass production of high-quality antique clocks. Antique Ansonia Large Gothic Gem Clock
Jul 2020 – 245 Antique American Clocks Ansonia Brass & Copper Co. “Large Gothic Gem”, 1869-1877. The rosewood veneer on this 18.5-inch clock is practically perfect. The glasses are original, the dial glass held in with putty, the lower glass has yellowed perhaps due to a lacquer coating to preserve the reverse-painted image. The paint on the metal dial is old as well; the 8-day time-and-strike movement is not signed that I can see. It is running and striking as expected. There is a good label inside. nice example.
