Ansonia Clock Co. wood case mantle clock,

Ansonia Clock Co. wood case mantle clock, “Kirkwood”, ca 1901.

The case is made with a wood the company called “Dark Wood”. It looks like walnut, but very dark. It is 22.5″ high, complete, a dry split on the top, not a break. Ripple molding around the door and base, and a large number of deeply grooved or pressed designs over the case front. The signed dial is very dark, hands and rings are original, rings need to be cleaned and polished. Old glass, original pendulum, it also needs to be polished or cleaned. 8 day movement is original, springs are clamped, I did not test the movement. Strikes half hours on a Cathedral gong. Ly-Ansonia No. 1910.

Ansonia Clock Co. parlor clock

Ansonia Clock Co. parlor clock “Kirkwood”, ca 1901.

One of Ansonia’a “K Assortment”, or clocks with names beginning with K. How clever. They do not say what wood the clock is made of; they just say it is “dark wood”. The case is 22.5 inches tall, has numerous designs all over, ripple around the door, weaving around the base, and I would assume pressed and applied images elsewhere. The glass is almost perfect, as is the dial, pendulum, and full label. I wasn’t impressed when I started examining this clock but it may be the best of the lot. 8 day, half hour gong strike. Ly-Ansonia #1910.
