the bronzed clock and figure appear to retain the original patina in very good condition. The black painted base has some minor chips, the rear case door is detached, and there is an extra hole in the base behind the front foot. The beveled glass has a chip at the bottom, there is a faint hairline by the four on the dial, one wing of the helmet has been reattached, and the pallets are steel. The movement is correctly signed. the clock is in very good condition retaining its original Ansonia ÓJapanese BronzeÒ finish. There is a repair to figureÕs right leg. The dial has repairs at the regulator and numeral 4. This great figural clock has a lot of personality and presents nicely. Ht 22Ó, Width 21Ò

Ansonia Clock Co., New York, “Insult” figural mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven movement with visible escapement, iron base on cast feet supporting the clock with white enamel dial and Louis XV style hands and a soldier figure with outstretched arm.
The enamel base has been sprayed with flat black paint. The figure and clock case have been sprayed with gold spray paint. The figure is missing the tips of two fingers, the handle of the short sword, and one wing of the griffin on top of the helmet. The white enamel dial is very good, as are the hands. Hanging piece on the right side of the case will need to be reconnected. Correct pendulum, though the rating nut is not right. The movement is signed.
