Antique Ansonia Crystal Regulator No. 5 Clock
Jan 2022 – #26 Antique American Clocks Ansonia “Porcelain Regulator No. 5”, A beautiful 17-inch case with a porcelain top and base in forest green with cream accents and gold highlights. There are flowers on the front and back of the base and the four sides of the top; there are four beveled glasses although only two are original. The brass shows some tarnish. The two-part signed porcelain dial shows a short crack at the left winding arbor; one pallet is ruby and one is steel. 8-day movement is running and striking. The most recent sale I can find was by Harris in 2020 for a pink No. 5 for $1300; AAC sold a green No. 2 last summer for $1200. $1200-$1500. Ansonia Clock Co., New York, NY, “Crystal Regulator No. 5” in a gilt and brass case with a Royal Bonn top and base and a spring driven, 8 days, time and hour/half-hour strike movement with a visible escapement, c1906.
The porcelain top and bottom are both in excellent condition with no damage or cracks, The brass, gilt and beveled glass case is in excellent condition. The porcelain dial is in excellent condition with one very faint hairline on the recessed portion of the dial. The hands are original, The movement is signed, A great example from one of the top of the line sets of Ansonia Crystal Regulators. Ht 17 1/2″.
