About the Ansonia “Standard Regulator” Clock

Title: Ansonia “Standard Regulator” Clock Model: A Collector’s Guide

The Ansonia “Standard Regulator” clock, produced between 1876 and 1900, is a quintessential example of American clockmaking craftsmanship from the Ansonia Clock Company. This timepiece belongs to the regulator category, known for their precision in timekeeping, making them popular among collectors.

Characterized by its imposing presence and elegant design, the Standard Regulator typically features a mahogany case with intricate carvings, brass trim, and a rectangular shape. The dial is usually bronze or brass, adorned with Roman numerals and finely crafted hands. A pendulum can be found swinging beneath the clock face, adding to its antique charm.

What sets the Ansonia Standard Regulator apart as a collectible piece is its exceptional craftsmanship, impeccable timekeeping accuracy, and historical significance during the Industrial Revolution when mass production of clocks began. Notable features include the heavy cast iron movement and the use of high-quality materials throughout its construction.

In addition to their functional value as precision instruments, these clocks are also appreciated for their aesthetic appeal and the attention to detail in their design. The intricate carvings on the mahogany case, the polished brass accents, and the classic rectangular shape make the Ansonia Standard Regulator an esteemed addition to any antique clock collection.
