Title: Ansonia “Jug” Clock Model: A Collector’s Guide
The Ansonia “Jug” clock, produced by the renowned Ansonia Clock Company between 1897 and 1905, is a unique and captivating mantel clock that has become a sought-after collectible among antique clock enthusiasts. The “Jug” clock’s case is typically crafted from ceramic material, giving it a distinctive appearance that sets it apart from other Ansonia models. The design features intricate details, such as the handle on top, the spout at the bottom, and decorative patterns reminiscent of traditional milk jugs. The dial, usually white with black Roman numerals, sits centrally within the ceramic case.
What makes the Ansonia “Jug” clock particularly collectible is its rarity, as it was produced for a relatively short period. Additionally, its unique design and excellent craftsmanship have ensured its enduring popularity among antique clock collectors. Notable features include the high-quality brass movement, the durable ceramic construction, and the charming jug shape that adds a touch of whimsy to any collection.
Despite variations in specific condition and rarity, the Ansonia “Jug” clock is generally considered a valuable addition to any antique clock collection.
