Ansonia Clock Co., crystal regulator, “Crown”, ca 1914.
The case is practically restored. It was disassembled, metal parts painted gold (very good for gold paint), movement was cleaned and is now running well. They went on to bigger and better jobs leaving 2 ornaments off the top-front of the case. I would think they are now lost. The bezel was put in a cleaning solution, which cleaned off the gilt right down to the copper. The polished brass body of the case is fine, just top and base painted gold. Glasses need to be tightened a tad. Correct 2 jar imitation mercury pendulum, excellent 2 piece porcelain dial with open escapement. 8 day, half hour cathedral gong strike. Ly-Ansonia No.357.

Ansonia Clock Co. crystal regulator, “Crown”, ca 1914.
The top urn and urn base are normally seen only on the “Coronet” crystal regulator. I am guessing that the case was missing the urn, and Bubba put the only one he had on this case, tightened it too much, cracking the base under the urn. This can all be corrected. Get a new urn from Timesavers and make the “Crown” correct. The brass doors are tarnished, 1 side glass is cracked in one corner. Case needs to be completely cleaned and polished. 8 day, half hour cathedral gong strike, it is running. 2 piece porcelain dial has faint hairlines at the time winding arbor. 2 jar imitation mercury pendulum, and an original Ansonia signed key. Ly-Ansonia, No.357 Crown, No.351 Coronet.

Note this clock has been sprayed over with an antique gold paint, and the fancy spelter finial on top is bent slightly to one side. Also both bottom nuts are missing from the pendulum. The porcelain dial and open escapement movement are in good condition, and the clock would restore OK. The man who consigned this particular clock is dreaming, and taking up catalog space that belongs to clocks in better condition; he should now have the message. Height 15 1/2″

Ansonia Clock Co. crystal regulator, “Crown”, ca 1914.
15-1/2 inch gilded brass case and attached, rich gold ornaments, on the top and base. Gilt has been polished too much on the high spots of the ornaments around the top and base. There is green tarnish showing thru, and thankfully their brush or cloth didnÕt get into the grooves where a great deal of the gilt and some green tarnish remains, which I much prefer over the copper showing.4 perfect beveled glasses, 2 piece porcelain dial with open escapement, allnear perfect. 8 day movement with rack and snail count, striking on a standinggong half hours and hours, runs nice and strong. Everything signed properlyby Ansonia. Would make a beautiful clock with a little judicious cleaning.Ly-Ansonia No. 357.

Ansonia Clock Company, crystal regulator, “Crown”, C. 1914.
The 15.5″ high case came from the factory with a polished brass body and gold gilt ornaments, which included the urn top, the base including feet, and the wrap around ornament just above the dial. The brass body has never been polished. It would certainly improve the looks of the case to polish lightly. The ornaments were restored in a Syrian Bronze shade which looks very nice in place of the bright gold. One of the 4 glasses has a corner crack; imitation mercury 2 jar pendulum has one chipped vial; 2 small corner attachments in the back are missing; the 2 piece porcelain dial has 2 repaired chips and some small hairlines. The urn and urn base is the style normally seen on the Crown model. The urn base was broken and repaired. 8 day, half hour cathedral gong strike, running just fine. This clock is not nearly as bad as I have made it sound. It looks very good and runs great, it is when you take your eye glass and inspect closely that you see the faults. Ly-Ansonia #357.
