Title: Ansonia “Colonial Brass Finish No. 1241” Clock Model: A Collector’s Guide

The Ansonia “Colonial Brass Finish No. 1241” is a captivating mantel clock, crafted by the renowned Ansonia Clock Company during the late 19th century, approximately between 1875 and 1900. This period, known as the Victorian era, was a time of significant growth and innovation in American clock manufacturing.

The No. 1241 model is distinguished by its elegant Colonial-style case, made primarily of brass with intricate floral and geometric carvings adorning the sides. The case rests on three ornamental feet, while a finial crowns the top. The dial is typically white enamel with black Roman numerals and a seconds hand, adding a touch of sophistication to this already striking design.

What sets the Ansonia “Colonial Brass Finish No. 1241” apart as a collectible piece lies in its combination of aesthetic charm and mechanical precision. Its eight-day time and strike movement, featuring an anchor escapement and a heavy pendulum swinging behind a glass door, is not only functional but also visually appealing.

Notable features include the striking Westminster chime on the hour and quarter hours, as well as the fine quality of the brass workmanship, which has aged gracefully over time. This clock model not only serves as a beautiful addition to any collection but also offers insight into the craftsmanship and design aesthetics of the Ansonia Clock Company during its golden age.
