About the Ansonia “Brandon” Clock

Title: Ansonia “Brandon” Clock Model: A Collector’s Guide

The Ansonia “Brandon” clock, produced by the renowned Ansonia Clock Company, is a classic mantel clock that graces many antique enthusiasts’ collections. This model embodies the exquisite craftsmanship and innovative design for which Ansonia was known during its peak production period in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The “Brandon” is distinguished by its elegant case, typically crafted from walnut or mahogany, with intricate carvings and gilt details. The rectangular dial features Roman numerals and is framed by a swan’s neck pediment, adding a touch of sophistication to this already impressive timepiece.

First introduced in the late 1800s, the “Brandon” was produced for several decades, making it relatively common among antique clock collectors. However, its longevity in production does not diminish its collectibility; the “Brandon” is sought after due to its timeless design and quality construction that has withstood the test of time.

One of the notable features of the Ansonia “Brandon” is its Westminster chime, which adds a musical element to this already charming clock. The mechanical movement, while not as complex as some other models, is reliable and easy to maintain, making it an ideal choice for collectors who appreciate both functionality and aesthetics.

Collectors should be mindful of authenticity when purchasing an Ansonia “Brandon” clock, as there have been instances of reproductions and restorations that compromise the original integrity of the piece. By acquiring a well-preserved and authenticated “Brandon,” collectors can not only enjoy its beautiful design but also appreciate the historical significance
